Fermob's playful take on the traditional English bench finds its fullest expression in the Somerset 2-Seater Sofa. Designed by Studio Fermob, it's the kind of piece that earns a permanent spot: under a willow tree, beneath a parasol, in a sunlit corner of the living room. The bold contours of the design lean into the metal-and-wood contrast rather than softening it, giving the whole piece a confident, contemporary edge.
The teak frame and armrests come from sustainably managed forests, left raw, neither treated nor oiled, so the visible knots and natural irregularities of the wood show through. It's a deliberate choice that gives the piece real warmth and a sense of honesty about its materials. The seat and backrest, by contrast, are perforated aluminum sheet and tubular aluminum, evocative of the traditional British garden bench this design reinterprets.
Comfort comes from careful engineering: Fermob calculated the backrest tilt and seat depth specifically for this piece, then finished it with cushions in removable, solution-dyed acrylic Sunbrella® fabric, tone-matched to the frame color for a cohesive, contemporary look indoors or out.
